Therapist And Patient

Our Therapy Approach

When you work with us, we have your best interests at heart.

At Open Heart Therapy, we use a blend of approaches based on your individual story and preferences.

What matters most is the genuine connection and trust with your therapist. That's why we work to ensure that the relationship feels grounded in compassion and non-judgment. See for yourself if it feels right during a complimentary connection call.

Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT)

ACT helps you handle difficult thoughts and feelings without fighting or avoiding them. Instead, it supports you in accepting these experiences and making choices that lead to a meaningful life.

Unlike CBT, which often focuses on changing negative thoughts, with ACT you will learn to change how you respond to your thoughts and emotions.

The goal is to build flexibility, stay present, and make choices that reflect your values.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
(CBT)

CBT is a structured type of talk therapy that helps you understand how your thoughts, feelings, body sensations, and actions affect one another.

Developed by psychiatrist Dr. Aaron T. Beck, CBT teaches you to recognize unhelpful thinking patterns and develop healthier ways to respond.

It is supported by thousands of studies and is widely used to treat many mental health concerns.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy
(DBT)

DBT is a structured type of talk therapy that helps you manage strong emotions, cope with stress, and build healthier relationships. You’ll learn skills for managing emotions, tolerating distress, staying mindful in the moment, and communicating in ways that strengthen your relationships with yourself and others.

“Dialectical” means that two seemingly opposite things can be true at once. DBT balances accepting yourself and your current situation while also working toward positive change.

Eye-Movement De-sensitization &
Re-processing (EMDR)

EMDR is an evidence-based therapy that helps you process trauma and distressing life experiences. Using gentle bilateral stimulation, like guided eye movements, EMDR can reduce the emotional impact of difficult memories while helping your brain develop healthier, more adaptive perspectives.

While it’s often used for PTSD, EMDR is also effective for anxiety, depression, phobias, and grief.

Internal Family Systems
(IFS)

IFS helps you understand and connect with the different “parts” of yourself, fostering self-awareness, healing, and balance. We all have parts shaped by life experiences—some protect us, while others carry past wounds.

Through IFS, we strengthen your core Self—the calm, confident, and compassionate center within you—so you can heal trauma, reduce anxiety, and break unhelpful patterns.

This approach provides a safe, supportive space to explore and integrate all aspects of yourself for lasting emotional well-being.

Hypnotherapy

Hypnotherapy is an adjunct therapeutic technique that uses hypnosis to guide you into a state of deep relaxation and intense focus.

This state allows you to bypass conscious resistance, making the brain highly receptive to transformative suggestions. It can be incredibly helpful for training your mind to acquire more positive beliefs about yourself and the world or releasing habits that aren't serving you anymore.

Contrary to popular pop-culture depictions, you remain fully awake, conscious, and in complete control of your behavior at all times.
